• Abstract: In diesem Artikel werden in der Betrachtung der Begriffe Partizipation und EmpowermentAbstract: In diesem Artikel werden in der Betrachtung der Begriffe Partizipation und Empowerment das Verhältnis zwischen Sozialarbeiter*innen und deren Adressat*innen sowie das Selbstverständ-nis sozialarbeiterischer Praxis mit Reflexionsfragen konfrontiert. Diese werden mit den ideenge-schichtlichen Wurzeln des Verständnisses von Bürger*innenschaft untermauert und, vor der Fo-lie zeitgenössischer Entwicklungen des aktivierenden Staates und gouvernmentalistischer The-orien, in ein umfassenderes Bild gerückt. Am Ende stehen Sozialarbeiter*innen vor der Aufgabe, diese Betrachtungen für die eigene Praxis und politische Positionierung fruchtbar zu machen. Für diese Aufgabe werden Werkzeuge der politischen Bildung an die Hand gegeben. Abstract: This article examines the concepts of participation and empowerment, confronting the relation-ship between social workers and their clients together with the self-conception of social work practice by offering reflection questions. These are grounded in the historical roots of the con-cept of citizenship and placed within the broader context of contemporary developments, in-cluding the activating state and theories of governmentality. At the end stands the task to trans-fer these questions into practice and to learn from such reflection. For achieving this goal, tools from political education are presented.…
